What does an appliance warranty cover?
An appliance warranty covers damage or appliance malfunction that does not come from normal wear or tear.
How long do appliance warranties last?
Appliance warranties vary, with standard coverage lasting a year of purchase up to 10 years on select brands and appliance models.
What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and an extended warranty?
Manufacturer warranties typically come with every purchase and include a minimum period of coverage a brand will honor for eligible damage and repairs. Extended appliance warranties are coverage plans purchased aside from a manufacturer warranty with longer coverage periods, as well as added services such as coverage for parts and labor, in some cases.
What voids an appliance warranty?
Each manufacturer provides a guideline of instances in which a manufacturer warranty becomes void. While not universal, common reasons an appliance warranty become void include: misuse of the product; a user conducts repairs without professional consultation; failure to properly maintain an appliance; damage to an appliance through user error.
Do extended warranties cover accidental damage?
In most cases, extended appliance warranties will not cover accidental damage. Other accidents such as weather damage or household damage due to fires, flood, or similar require the owner to submit a claim.
Can I buy an extended warranty after purchase?
